Stream Deck Nest Control — Privacy Notice
Last updated: September 2, 2026
About this integration
Stream Deck Nest Control is my personal household integration for viewing and adjusting my Google Nest thermostat through an Elgato Stream Deck. It uses the third-party Nest Control plugin developed by Aeroverra.
This integration is for my own use and is not offered as a public service. I am not the developer of the Nest Control plugin.
Information accessed and its purpose
With my authorization, the integration accesses information about permitted Nest devices, including device identifiers, room or device names, temperature readings, temperature settings, operating modes, and device-status updates.
This information is used to display thermostat information, send temperature and mode changes, and keep the Stream Deck display updated.
The integration uses Google authorization tokens and Google Cloud configuration information to establish and maintain its connection. Google handles account sign-in; the integration does not require me to provide my Google account password to the plugin.
Where information is processed and stored
The integration runs on my computer and communicates with Google’s Nest and Cloud Pub/Sub services.
The plugin saves connection settings, including a refresh token, through Stream Deck’s settings system. It also writes local diagnostic logs. These settings and logs may be included in computer backups.
Google separately processes information through its services under its applicable policies and service settings.
Plugin diagnostics and third-party sharing
The plugin’s publicly available source code includes reporting to a developer-operated service for usage statistics and troubleshooting.
Reports can include the plugin identifier, its local folder path, and diagnostic messages. Depending on the error, reports may also contain device-event information or account-connection details. Certain setup-error reports include an authorization code and a portion of the OAuth client secret.
These reports are separate from the information exchanged with Google to operate the thermostat.
[Before publication: confirm the installed plugin’s reporting behavior, whether reporting can be disabled, and the developer’s retention and deletion practices.]
I do not sell the Nest information I access or use it for advertising or marketing.
Retention and removal
Local connection settings remain available to the integration until they are removed. Local logs and backup copies may remain after the connection is revoked.
To stop future Nest access, use Google’s Partner Connections Manager and unlink the connection associated with this project. Google provides instructions for managing and revoking access.
Revoking access does not automatically delete previously stored local files, backups, or third-party diagnostic records. These require separate removal where applicable.
[Before publication: add confirmed procedures for removing the plugin’s saved settings and requesting deletion of developer-held diagnostics.]
